Graduado em Medicina pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1972), mestrado em Microbiologia e Imunologia pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1978) e doutorado em Imunologia pela Universidade de São Paulo (1982). Pós-doutorado na New York University (NY-USA) e Instituto Pasteur (Paris-França). Professor Titular da Universidade de São Paulo desde 2003. Presidente da Sociedade de Imunologia (2004-2006). Recursos Humanos: A maioria dos alunos de Pós-Graduação formados estão inseridos em Instituições de Ensino, Pesquisa e Biotecnologia no Brasil e no exterior.
